DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The residents of Dewala union council blocked the main road in protest against unscheduled and prolonged power outages here on Tuesday.

The angry protesters, including women, staged the protest in front of the house of Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Ali Amin Gandapur.

They set tyres on fire to block the road and chanted slogans against the Pesco authorities.

Speaking on the occasion, the residents said that power supply was cut off for over six hours daily due to which they faced severe difficulties.

“We demand that the issue of power supply be resolved immediately or else we will close the main road to traffic indefinitely,” they said.

Later, Cantt police SHO and Pesco officials reached the spot and held talks with the protesters who ended the protest after getting assuring that the issue would be resolved on priority.
