CHITRAL: A new political party named as Chitral Awami Party (CAP) has been launched here with the major objective to fight poverty and ensure development of the area apart from fostering peace and harmony among the local people.

Addressing a press conference here, the party founders Mubashir Ahmed, Mohammad Usman, Engineer Faheem and others said that CAP would adopt a realistic approach towards resolution of issues which retarded the pace of development in Chitral and also threatened social harmony.

They said primarily it would be a regional party whose members would support the party forming government in the centre and the province so that development funds could be secured for the region.

They said that a huge amount of funds was required for the development in different sectors and it would not be possible without the active support of the governments both in Peshawar and Islamabad.

They said that people of Chitral had most of the times sent members to the assemblies who sat on the opposition benches with the result that Chitral was badly neglected in allocation of funds.

The leaders said that CAP would have democratic structure and it was being established on such lines that workers with high capabilities and potential would rise to the higher ranks of its leadership.

The CAP founders said that financially it would be a self-sustaining party.

They claimed that accountability of both the party leadership and its elected representatives would be within the reach of an ordinary worker. They expressed their resolve to unite the people and further improve the atmosphere of peace and amity.

They said that after completion of the membership campaign the party would be registered with the Election Commission of Pakistan, with Chitrali cap (Phakol) as its electoral symbol.
