BAHAWALPUR: Hotel employees foiled an alleged attempt by a van driver to rape a minor passenger girl in a hotel room in of the general bus stand area on Sunday.
According to Civil Lines police, the girl passenger, the maid of a woman doctor, boarded an APV van from Larr near Basti Malook for Bahawalpur. When the van reached Bahawalpur, the driver managed to lure the girl to a local hotel where he attempted to rape her. On hearing her screams, the hotel employees and guests staying in the hotel ran for her help and saved her from the suspect. They got hold of the suspect and later handed him over to police.
Police registered a first information report (FIR) against the suspect on the complaint of the employer of the girl.
IUB PROJECTS: Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Athar Mehboob claims that a sum of over Rs4bn has been allocated for the mega projects of the university in the federal budget.
He said the allocation was a part of the total allocation made for the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for various projects of universities. He said the IUB would implement its mega projects with this new allocation.
SYSTEM: Quaid-e-Azam Medical College (QAMC) Principal Prof Dr Shafqat Ali Tabbasum, who is also the chief executive officer of three local health facilities, including Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH), inaugurated a management information system at the hospital.
The system is aimed at feeding and providing online data of each of the admitted patient at the BVH.
PRIZE: A sum of Rs100,000 along with a commendation certificate was awarded to Farhan Hussain, the SHO of the Musafirkhana Police Station, for his performance on behalf of Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani.
