ISLAMABAD: Cash and valuables worth millions of rupees were stolen from 10 different places in the capital, police said.

Four robberies took place in the jurisdiction of Industrial Area police station, I-8 and Faizabad.

In the first incident, cash and valuables were stolen from the residence of a retired grade 21 government officer. The suspects held residents of the house at gunpoint for hours. The robbery took place in I-8/3.

The house was ransacked for three hours straight, police said, adding cash and valuables worth Rs350,000 were stolen. The suspects managed to escape.

Police said that the official served in the capital from May 1988 to January 1990 as the third chief of a law enforcement agency.

In another incident, a vehicle worth Rs3 million was stolen at gunpoint from I-8/3.

A group of four people armed with weapons intercepted a Toyota Crown driven by Samir Naeem when he reached I-8/3, the police said, adding the robbers held him up at gunpoint and pulled him out from the vehicle.

Likewise, a gang of robbers snatched a Honda 125 worth Rs100,000 from a man at Faizabad, they said, adding Asif Wasim was intercepted by three armed persons at Faizabad.

Likewise, another Honda 125 worth Rs55,000 was also snatched from Faizabad by three gunmen, the police said, adding that Osama Khalid owned the two-wheeler.

In another incident, cash and ornaments amounting to Rs990,000 were stolen from a house in Alipur, police said, adding suspects broke into the house of Haji Ahmed when residents were away, ransacked it and escaped with stolen items.

Meanwhile, five vehicles were also stolen from different areas of the capital, police said.

A 2016 model Mehran was stolen from the parking area of a market in Rawat, they said, adding a tractor worth Rs1 million was stolen from G-12.

A Honda 125 model 2020 was lifted from a parking area in Gulberg Greens, they said, adding that another 2020 model Honda 125 was stolen from the parking area of a university in H-8

Likewise, a 2018 model Honda 125 was lifted from F-8.
