ISLAMABAD: Two days after the alleged sexual assault of a male student was reported, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) on Sunday said the varsity will impose a ban on entry of outsiders into hostels.

“Though, there is already ban on entry of unauthorised students, now we have decided to strictly ensure that no unauthorised student is allowed to stay in hostels,” said Nasir Farid a spokesperson for the university.

He said on Friday, a male student from another university stayed with his IIUI friends in the university hostel, where he was allegedly sexually assaulted.

“After the incident, we expelled both of our students and security guards concerned were also suspended,” he said, adding that the victim was unwilling to register a first information report (FIR) and wanted to avoid legal proceedings.

Besides taking action against students, who (if any) are residing illegally in hostels, the university administration has also decided to ask teachers to give special lectures to students to create awareness about rape.
