SWABI: A couple was killed and their teenage daughter injured when their rivals opened fire on them here on Thursday, said police. The incident occurred in Sheraghund village of Razaar tehsil.
Registering an FIR, Munsif Khan, brother of deceased Khathim Khan, said he was sitting in their house with other family members when Faheem Khan and an unidentified person allegedly opened fire on them inside their house.
As a result, his brother Khathim and his wife were killed and their 15-year-old daughter was seriously injured. She was referred to Mardan Medical Complex from local THQ hospital in critical condition.
The cause of the incident was stated to be rivalry over a woman’s relations. When contacted, officials of Kalu Khan police station said that none of the accused had so far been arrested.
SAY NO TO DRUGS: Speakers at a seminar held in government postgraduate college, Swabi, the other day asked the youth to stay away from narcotics.
The seminar was organised by the district police and it was announced that more such functions would be held in educational institutions.
The college principal Prof Anwarzeb Shah said students who acquired education in colleges and universities were mature and they should avoid use of drugs to protect their future.
COMMIT SUICIDE: Two cousins allegedly committed suicide here the other day. The first incident occurred in Kadi village in Zaida police station limits where a teenager Ayaz Khan allegedly shot himself inside their house with a pistol.
Similarly, Ayaz’s cousin Sharash, 22, also allegedly took his own life in the same fashion. When contacted, SHO Ajab Durrani said they were investigating the two incidents.
