ISLAMABAD: After a month, the murder case of a police official has been registered at the Loi Bher police station of Islamabad.

The case was registered in response to a complaint lodged by a brother of the deceased.

Sub-inspector Arshad Mehmood worked with the Punjab police for the last 37 years and was posted to the Jhelum traffic police.

He was found unconscious in his car at PWD Colony by a passerby at 7pm on May 26. Rescue 1122 later shifted him to Pims where he died.

Talking to Dawn, the deceased’s brother Malik Tariq Mehmood said Arshad had gone to his office that day and later visited a colleague at his residence in Jhelum.

He remained at the residence of his colleague for an hour and later left for Islamabad, he said.

After getting information, he along with other relatives reached Pims and found Arshad bleeding from mouth.

A death certificate issued by the hospital suggested that he had been poisoned, he added.

He was carrying Rs60,000 and two mobile phones, the brother said, adding the cash and the mobile phone along with his wallet were missing. CCTV footage showed two persons traveling with him when his car entered Rawat.

The two persons also accompanied him when he entered the PWD Colony.
