HYDERABAD, Oct 27: Leaders of public opinion, intellectuals, writers and technocrats have decided to constitute an advisory committee under the leadership of noted intellectual and educationist, Ibrahim Joyo, to identify problems of Sindh and to provide guidance to the people in the struggle for achievement of their national rights.

The decision to this effect was taken at a dialogue organized by the Sindh National Front here on Wednesday night. Mr Joyo was authorized to nominate other members of the committee.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief of the Sindh National Front and former Sindh Chief Minister Mumtaz Ali Bhutto supported the constitution of an advisory committee and said that the committee should provide guidance to people in their struggle for their rights.

He said that he was not trying to muster the support of the people for his personal ends nor was he sitting in air-conditioned rooms in Karachi.

He claimed that he spent 20 years of his life in trying to create an awakening among the Sindhi people but failed.

He said that the fundamental reason for this was that the people were running after power.

He said that his interest lay only in emancipation of Sindh and he was not a self-seeker.

He said that in fact the people of Sindh have a very short memory and he was the only chief minister who had raised the slogan of Jeay Sindh in the Sindh University and opposed the NFC award commission.

He said that there was nothing wrong in joining the government provided one stuck to one’s own views on important issues.

He said that when he had termed the 1973 Constitution as outdated in 1985 he had to leave the PPP. He claimed that he had laid the foundation of nationalist politics.

He said that only through the unity of the three smaller nations, the struggle for their rights could succeed.

Mr Bhutto was of the view that the unity of the leaders was not important unless the people were ready to unite on one platform for the achievement of their rights.

He said that he had constituted the Sindh Solidarity Council but the leaders ran away following the announcement of election schedule.

Noted intellectual Ibrahim Joho stressed the need for constitution of an advisory committee to provide guidance in the national struggle.

Former senator Qazi Abdul Majeed called upon all the parties to discard their differences and unite on one platform to struggle for the resolution of problems confronting Sindh. He was of the view that Sindh had a very strong legal base but it was very weak in political leadership.

Noted writer Hameed Sindhi, Jam Saqi, Yousuf Laghari advocate, SNC leaders Dr Dodo Mehri and Punhal Sario, Prof Mushtaque Mirani and Nazeer Memon spoke on the occasion.
