HYDERABAD, Oct 27: A large number of prominent people on Thursday visited residence of Ayaz Latif Palijo, son of late Jiji Zarina Baloch, and offered condolences to Rasool Bux Palijo, chief of Awami Tehrik, on the passing away of his wife.

They included leftist leader Mairaj Mohammad Khan, MMA leader Abdul Waheed Qureshi, the director-general of the Sindh health services, Dr Hadi Bux Jatoi, Baloch nationalist leader Yousuf Masti Khan, former provincial minister, Ismail Raho, Balochistan chief secretary K.B. Rind, former senator Hussain Shah Rashdi, former provincial law minister Muzaffar Sadiq Bhatti, MQM MPA Naeem Ishtiaq, the secretary general of the Sindhi Adabi Sangat, Taj Joyo, Professor Qasim Bughio, Dr Suleman Shaikh, MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio, Sindh Education Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro, former Sindh minister Prof Anita Ghulam Ali, PPP leader Hakim Ali Zardari, MPA Makhdoom Jamiluzzaman, noted writer Wali Ram Walabh and a host of others.

Muttahida chief Altaf Hussain expressed his condolences on telephone from London.

A delegation of the PPP offered condolences on behalf of Asif Ali Zardari.

The employees of Sindhi Language Authority held a condolence meeting under the chairmanship of Abdul Qadir Junejo and offered fateha.

KHAIRPUR: A number of condolence meetings were held here on Wednesday.

The Khairpur chapter of the Sindhi Adabi Sangat held a gathering and eulogized the services of Ms Baloch for Sindhi music and literature.

Sangat’s unit secretary Jai Ram presided over the meeting.

The meeting paid rich tributes to the late singer and decided to organize a function to highlight Jiji’s contribution to the Sindhi literature and music.

Another gathering was held at the Radio Pakistan Khairpur.

Station director Hassan Kazmi presided over the meeting.

The speakers said that Ms Baloch had remained a compere of the Radio Pakistan and her songs got immense popularity among the people country.

The journalist community held a condolence gathering at the National Press club.

DADU: Writers, social workers, political leaders, Saeed Sindhi, Faqir Rasool Bux Hisbani, Irshad Panhwar, Maqbool Panhwar, Wazir Mangi, Wafa Birhamani, Hakim Shah and PPP leader Pir Mazharul Haq have condoled on the sad demise of folk singer, Zarina Baloch.

A condolence meeting was held in Akhund Mohalla where they lauded the services of Zarina Baloch for Sindhi music.

APP adds: A meeting of the District Bar Association, Sukkur, held on Thursday expressed deep shock and grief over the death of renowned artist and singer, Zarina Baloch.

The meeting held under the chairmanship of DBA President, Imtiaz Ali Soomro also termed Jiji’s death a loss of the people of Sindh.

The meeting through a resolution offered heart-felt condolence and sympathies with the bereaved family including her husband, Rasool Bux Palijo and son Ayaz Latif Palijo.

The meeting later offered Fateha for the departed soul and prayed to Almighty Allah to enable the bereaved family bear the loss with patience.
