TOBA TEK SINGH: Son of a prayer leader was booked for allegedly raping a minor girl in the mosque of Chak 761-GB village in Pirmahal Tehsil on Thursday.

According to the first information report (FIR) registered by Arrouti police under sections 376 (3) and 295-A of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on the complaint of Nasir Abbas, a resident of the same village, his 13-year-old sister was passing through the street when the suspect, son of the village mosque’s prayer leader Moulvi Bashir Ahmad forcibly took her into the mosque where he raped her. As the girl raised an alarm, locals rushed to the mosque, but the suspect managed to escape before they reached their.

District police spokesperson Mr Attaullah claimed that the suspect had been arrested and section 295-A had been inducted in the FIR over desecration of the mosque.

BOOKED: The principal and a teacher of a private school were booked by police on Thursday over corporal punishment to a minor student.

The complainant, Siddiq Wayam of Chak 762-GB said in the FIR registered by Arrouti police under sections 337 (2), 328-A and 34 of the PPC that his son Farhan, a sixth grade student was severely beaten with a stick, in violation of the ban on corporal punishment, by his teacher, Wasim, for not doing homework.

He claimed that the beating caused damage to an ear of his son, who could not hear since the incident.

He alleged that the school’s Principal, Sabir Sargana, not only patronised corporal punishment in the school, but also slapped the child for complaining about the incident. No arrest has so far been made.
