ISLAMABAD: The capital saw an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases as 54 people were diagnosed with the disease on Thursday whereas two people passed away. The positivity ratio was 1.9pc.

The death of a female patient from the 70-79 age group was reported and death of a male patient from the 80-89 age group was reported. Both of them were residents of G-6 and G-13, officials of the capital administration said.

During the last 24 hours 2,808 tests were conducted in the capital and 54 people tested positive.

Meawhile, in Rawalpindi district one person died of Covid-19 and 17 people were diagnosed with the disease. Thirteen people were discharged from hospitals after recovery during the last 24 hours.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Tahir, 60, resident of Dhoke Seham Peshawar Road. He was brought to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) on June 30.

In Rawalpindi district, there are 171 active patients. As many as 51 patients are in hospitals including seven who arrived from other districts and 120 patients are home isolated.

As many as 15 patients arrived from the garrison city including eight from cantonment, four from Potohar Town and three from Rawal Town. Two patients arrived from Taxila and one patient came from Chakwal.

Ten patients are admitted in Holy Family Hospital, five in Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), nine in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU) and 10 patients are in Fauji Foundation Hospital (FFH).

There is one patient on a ventilator in Rawalpindi, 24 are on oxygen support and nine are stable.
