KHA opens chapter at Shahwilayat Public School to promote hockey

KARACHI: Karachi Hockey Association opened a new chapter when it signed a Memoran­dum of Understanding (MoU) with Shahwilayat Public School at a ceremony held in the school premises on Thursday to promote hockey at the schoolslevel.

Sindh Minister for Women Empowerment and Chairperson KHA Syeda Shehla Raza and KHA Secretary Haider Hussain signed the documents for KHA while Managing Trusty Ajaz Hasan Khan and Principal Nudrat Imam signed for Shahwilayat Publich School.

On the occasion Shela Raza said today she has signed first MoU with any school to motivate the youth to take up healthy activities.

The Minister emphasized upon the school to give scholarships and allow freeship to outstanding sports persons to encourage them. She appreciated the hard work of Haider Hussain and said his name will appear on top whenever history of the game will be written.Prominent among them who were present on the occasion were KHA Patron-in-Chief retired Maj General Tariq Haleem Suri, Olympian Sami­ullah, Olympian Hanif Khan, Chairman KHA Gulfaraz Ahmed Khan, DSP Khaliq and former president Pakistan Table Tennis Federation S M Sibtain, from Shahwilayat Public School Sajid Raza (GS) Major Suri recalled the past when children from every house used to play hockey.

Later Shehla distributed 32 hockey sticks and 32 balls to the players 17 hockey sticks on behalf of Army sports directorate.

Managing Trusty of the school Ajaz Hasan Khan thanked KHA for generous support by donating free hockey sticks and balls to the institution. He said it’s time to bring the youth to the ground for healthy activities.

School Principal Nudrat Imam thanked the guests and hoped the efforts will yield fruitful results in future.

KHA Secretary Haider Hussain who is also PHF coordinator, said the program was part of the PHF Domestic Vision to promote hockey at the grassroots level.

The PHF President retired Brig M. Khalid Sajjad Khokar has already deputed two coaches namely Moin Alam and Azlan Khan to groom the youth of Sindh.
