ISLAMABAD: The number of Covid-19 cases and the positivity rate once again increased in the capital on Tuesday.

In the last 24 hours, 1,519 tests were conducted and 79 people were found infected with the positivity rate of 5.2pc.

On Monday, 1,771 tests had been conducted and the positivity rate was 2.99pc.Out of the total 79 cases, 22 were reported in the age group of 30-39, 14 in 0-9, 12 in 20-29, nine in 40-49, eight in 10-19, seven in 50-59, four in 60-69 and three in 70-79.

Nine cases were reported from Loi Bher, six from G-9, five each from Bhara Kahu, F-10, four each from F-11, Rawat, three each from Tarlai, G-11, F-8, Sohan, Alipur, two each from I-8, G-13, F-6 and one each from G-10, Khanna, G-6, I-10, G-7, Chak Shahzad, F-7, I-9, Koral, Chirrah, G-12 and H-8.

Rawalpindi

The number of patients slightly increased in the district on Tuesday as 27 people tested positive. However, five patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the disease in the last 24 hours.

In Rawalpindi district, there are 248 active patients - 42 in hospitals and 183 home isolated.

Of the new cases, 16 were brought to hospitals from cantonment areas, three each from Potohar Town and Rawal Town, two from Gujar Khan and one each from Chakwal, KP and AJK.

As many as 10 of the new patients were admitted in Holy Family Hospital, eight in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, 12 each in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and 12 in Fauji Foundation Hospital.

There is one patient on ventilator, 29 are on oxygen and 12 are stable.

Commissioner Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah said that the positivity ratio was increasing in Islamabad.

“There is a dire need to adopt standard operating procedures (SOP) issued by the government,” he said.
