KARACHI: Sindh Governor Imran Ismail in a meeting with leaders of the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) on Tuesday asked them to identify the problems in the province and promised them their meeting with the prime minister would materialise soon where they could discuss these issues.
He said that the GDA was a strong ally of the federal government and the prime minister always took it on board while taking any decision about Sindh’s affairs.
Talking to reporters at GDA leader Makhdoom Fazal’s residence, he said that the PM would hold detailed meeting with GDA leaders in his next visit to Sindh. And in consultation with the alliance, he said, the federal government had planned several development projects for different parts of rural and urban Sindh.
“Both sides agreed today to find solutions [to] all [of] Sindh’s problems,” he said.
“So I have requested the GDA leaders to identify the problems and suggest their solutions. We will hold detailed meeting with the PM on his next visit and discuss all this. We strongly believe [in] ... solid proposals and suggestions.”
He said with financial support of the federal government several development projects were being carried out in different parts of Sindh.
“We keep meeting each other ... to keep coordination and better understanding,” he said while replying to a query about the agenda of the meeting just a day after he met senior GDA leader and former Sindh home minister Dr Zulfikar Mirza.
On Monday, Governor Ismail had met Dr Mirza at Governor House.
In Monday’s meeting he had briefed Dr Mirza about new development schemes being launched soon to improve the living standards of the people in Badin and other districts of Sindh.
They had also discussed the issues of mutual interest and prevailing political situation of the province. Talking to the Sindh governor, Dr Mirza briefed him in detail about development works in Badin district. The governor assured he would soon present his suggestions regarding the development works of Badin during his meeting with the prime minister.
