TAXILA: The Attock police on Thursday claimed to have arrested assassin of former member Punjab Assembly from Attock and PPP leader Malik Shahan Hakmeen Khan and recovered murder weapon.

The suspect Malik Sherdil Hakmeen Khan is the son of the deceased’s stepbrother. The suspect confessed to having killed Mr Shahan over a property dispute.

According to the FIR lodged by the mother of the deceased and widow of founder PPP leader Malik Hakmeen Khan, there was a property dispute between Shahan and his stepbrother Asif and they were in litigation in various courts.

She said a few days ago, Asif came to their house and asked Shahan to withdraw cases failing which he warned of dire consequences and on Thursday his son killed him.

Inside sources said that the alleged assassin was arrested soon after the incident on Wednesday. However, his arrest was officially announced on Thursday.
