LARKANA: The Sindh chief secretary has suspended the superintendent of central prison and correctional facility of Larkana, Liaquat Ali Pirzada, sources said on Thursday.

It was learnt that Chief Secretary Mumtaz Ali Shah issued his suspension order on July 2 and five days later the home department forwarded it to the inspector general of prisons for necessary action.

A letter issued was issued from the office of IG of prisons on Thursday (July 8) for the information of the Larkana jail superintendent and immediate compliance of the CS’s order. Copies of the communications were forwarded to the office of the IG prisons.

No reasons were assigned for the jail chief’s suspension in the relevant letter but sources at the Larkana central prison confirmed on Thursday that the jail chief had left his charge and his deputy Nazar Hussain Gaad was asked to take over the additional charge of superintendent.
