KARACHI: Two former Sindh champions — Sohail Shehzad and Agha Bilawal — made unceremonious exits when they lost to their respective opponents in the pre-quarterfinals of the 29th Sindh Snooker Cup here at a local parlour on Friday.

Two-time former champion Sohail who is the bronze medallist of the Guangzhou Asian Games men’s team event, suffered a 5-2 defeat at the hands of low-profile Ali Hamza to crash out of the race. Hamza was home 71-33, 64-32, 41-86, 2-65, 50-19, 57-33, 65-18.

Agha, another former provincial champion, lost by identical scoreline of 5-2 to seasoned Sultan Mohammad. Sultan won his pre-quarterfinal 5-59, 89-64, 64-24, 44-23, 70-25, 22-62, 49-48.

The quartet of Jawed Ansari, Farrukh Usman, Iftekhar Khan and Faizan Ahmed have reached the last-eight phase.

At the time of filing this report at 8:00pm, two matches — Ian Mark John vs Taufiq Memon and Abdul Sattar vs Umer Memon — were in progress.
