QUETTA: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced local body elections in nine wards of three cantonment board areas of Balochistan on Sept 12.

According to a statement, returning officers will receive nomination papers from July 26 to July 29.

The ECP will scrutinise nomination papers from July 31 to Aug 3, the statement said. The final list of candidates will be posted on Aug 13.

The ECP has banned transfer and appointment of government officials after the release of the schedule.

The prime minister, governors, chief ministers, federal and provincial ministers will not be able to visit the cantonment boards.
