PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan on Monday inaugurated the newly constructed building housing the Peshawar High Court, Bannu Bench.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by judges of the high court, officers of district administration, office-bearers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council, Peshawar High Court Bar Association, district bar association and lawyers.

The PHC chief justice in his address said that judicial autonomy and transparency in the justice system were his top priorities but his concern for protection of human rights and facilitating the litigants by making less expensive and more expeditious justice available to them was no less important.

The chief engineer of communication and works department briefed the participants of the ceremony about the project which was followed by an inspection of the building. It was said that administrative approval of the project amounted to Rs950 million while the total area of the building was 27 kanals and five marlas.

The premises contains three courtrooms with allied offices, a research resource centre, a library, a conference room, barroom, offices of the additional registrar, additional advocate general and attorney general besides residences of the judges.

The additional registrar of Bannu bench expressed his gratefulness to the PHC Chief Justice for sparing time to grace the occasion with his presence. The president of Peshawar High Court Bar Association, Bannu Bench, also thanked him for attending the inaugural ceremony.
