KARACHI: Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a suspected militant for his alleged association with a banned nationalist outfit involved in anti-state activities in different parts of Sindh.

They said in a statement that the police and law enforcement agencies in a joint action arrested suspect Ramesh Kumar from Bhitaiabad close to Karachi airport and claimed that he was associated with the proscribed Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz’s (JSMM) Shafi Burfat group.

“Ramesh is highly qualified and an expert in making explosive devises,” the statement said. “He possessed physics and telecom degrees. Using his expertise, he masterminded 38 cracker attacks between 2010 and 2015.”
