LOWER DIR: Police on Thursday arrested examination controller of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Malakand Mian Wazir Jan along with two other people for violating Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 1993.

The superintendent of an examination hall, Rehmat Ali, was also among the arrested persons, who were produced before a local court that sent them to Timergara jail on 14-day judicial remand.

Mr Jan of Swat had been performing duty on deputation as controller of examination at BISE Malakand for the last two years.

Chief Minister Mehmood Khan had removed Mian Wazir from his post for helping his son to attempt the 10th grade chemistry paper in a separate room in Chakdara.

Education minister Shahram Tarakai also took notice of the matter when a video showing Wazir Jan’s son solving the paper with the help of books in a separate room went viral. The board secretary was authorised to hold the additional charge of the controller till further order. The annual examinations for secondary school certificate and higher secondary school certificate are in progress across the province.

VISIT: The provincial chairman of Qaumi Watan Party Sikandar Khan Sherpao on Thursday visited the family of late Mirza Bacha and offered condolence on his death.

QWP provincial joint secretary Mirza Bacha had died of cardiac arrest the other day. QWP leaders Aftab Khan Sherpao, Aneesa Zeb Tahirkheli and others had also offered condolence on his death.

Sikandar termed the death of Bacha as irreparable loss for the party and lauded his services.

JUI-F: The district chapter of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Fazl on Thursday announced that it would contest the next local bodies’ election from all the union councils of the district.

Talking to local journalists, JUI-F district emir Ameer Sirajud Din and Qazi Ayazud Din said that Mufti Ibrahim was nominated for nazim slot in Khall tehsil. They said the party would fully participate in the proposed LG polls.

The JUI-F leaders said the other candidates would be named after Eidul Azha.
