PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa higher education department has clarified a news item, which appeared in different newspapers on Thursday claiming that the Peshawar High Court has suspended an order of the provincial governor to send the vice-chancellor of the Women University Swabi on a forced leavefor three months.
A spokesperson for the department said a two-member high court bench, which heard a petition filed by VC Prof Shahana Urooj Kazmi, had not suspended the order issued on May 25 for sending her on forced leave.
He said while the hearing into the case was adjourned until Aug 17, Prof Shahana still on forced leave as the court had only ordered the continuation of the interim relief granted on May 27.
“In the said interim relief, the court had directed that the departmental proceedings should continue against her.
However, no adverse order should be passed against her till the final verdict of her petition,” he said.
