FAISALABAD, Oct 29: City District Nazim Rana Zahid Tauseef has pledged to make all possible efforts to provide facilities to the people. Speaking to this correspondent on Saturday, he claimed being a resident of Faisalabad for the last over four decades he was aware of the problems being faced by the people.
He said projects of social welfare, sports and culture would be launched in a more organized manner to extend their scope to more and more people, besides establishing centres for information technology education.
Instead of mega projects, he said, he would lay emphasis on the improvement of existing infrastructure while provision of safe drinking water and functional sewerage system for the district would be among his priorities.
He said the elected representatives and the bureaucracy were two wheels of a cart and both had to work in harmony. “I have been elected through the ARD platform, but have now become a part of the government. Therefore, the government instructions and policies would be implemented in true spirit.”
The nazim said open courts would be held in all towns of the district to take stock of the administration performance.
According to Mr Zahid, a fresh and transparent system would be introduced in the district government under which documents pertaining to all official contracts, deals, auctions and negotiations would be made available to the media and the general public.
He said the members of the house would be placed on various development committees to monitor the working, quality of the material and other technicalities.
About the role of non-government organizations, the nazim said, representatives of NGOs would be involved in promoting sport and cultural activities in the area so that the official resources could be spent on pure development schemes.
