KARAK: Five persons were killed and 12 injured when a passenger bus going to Swat from Karachi collided with a truck on the Indus Highway here on Friday morning.

Police officials said the accident occurred near Nashpa dehydration plant when the bus driver lost control over the vehicle due to over-speeding.

They said five passengers died on the spot, who were identified as Sardar Wali of Bhakkar, Ghulam Rabbani of D.I Khan, Hamza of Bahawalpur and Sameen Ahmad of Peshawar.

The name of the fifth deceased could not be ascertained. The bodies and the injured were shifted to hospitals in Kohat.

The highway remained closed for an hour till the damaged vehicles were removed from the road by the police.
