TAXILA: Over 2,000 police personnel will be deployed at mosques, Eidgahs, Imambargahs and important buildings as part of the security arrangements for Eidul Azha in Attock district.

Giving details of the security plan, spokesman for the district police Tahir Iqbal told mediapersons on Sunday that the Elite Force personnel would also perform the security duties.

He said the police would guard as many as 377 worship places during Eid prayers, including 329 mosques, 20 Imambargahs and 20 open places.

He said all types of leaves of the police officers had been cancelled for Eid.

Responding to a question, the spokesman said the security plan had been chalked out in collaboration with the district administration and law enforcement agencies to ensure peace and tranquility in the district.

He said all the police officials had been directed to remain on alert to avert any untoward incident during the Eid days.

“All the police officers have also been directed to personally patrol the areas in their jurisdiction and ensure implementation of security measures,” he said.

He said that walk-through gates would be installed in open places besides establishing car parking away from the worship places.
