KOHAT: Three children were swept away in flash floods as the rain lashed the far-flung hilly area of Sharkardarra area here on Tuesday.

Three other children suffered injuries in the accident but they’re rescued by the residents.

The police said the deceased, including Aizaz, Ruqayya and Saad, were aged between seven and nine years.

The police said the residents rescued Rabia, 3, Aeman, 5, and another child and shifted them to the KDA Teaching Hospital for the treatment of injuries.

NURSES PROTEST: The women nurses of the KDA Teaching Hospital on Tuesday observed a strike against the ‘denial’ of salary to their senior colleague.

Holding placards and shouting slogans, the protesters insisted that the hospital’s administration has withheld the salary of Gule Rana, who is the wife of a former medical superintendent.

They demanded the immediate release of salary and the transfer of MS Dr Fazalur Rehman Bangash for transferring the nurse from the medical ward A to the ultrasound ward.

When contacted, Dr Rehman said he had transferred nurse Gule Rana to the ultrasound ward to help the staff after the nurse on duty went on leave. He said the nurse had a diploma in ultrasound.

The nurse was transferred and his salary was blocked reportedly on the directions of the director-general (health) for tearing apart the copy of transfer orders.
