HYDERABAD, Oct 30: The University of Sindh here on Sunday conducted admission test for bachelors degree programme for the academic session of 2006.
A total 7,815 candidates, 1,730 of them girls, appeared in the test held by the Testing Centre for Admissions and Employment, University of Sindh.
The candidates had applied for admission to all disciplines including faculties of natural sciences, commerce and business administration, pharmacy, social sciences, education, arts and Islamic studies.
The university provided transport facility to candidates from Hyderabad, Latifabad and Qasimabad for Jamshoro and plied 125 point buses to bring students to the Allama I.I. Kazi Campus in Jamshoro.
Strict security measures were adopted at the campus and its surroundings areas.
About 50 examination blocs were set up inside the Arts Faculty Building and the main ground outside.
All blocks were connected with modern sound system through a control room and candidates were issued instructions in English, Sindhi and Urdu languages from time to time for their guidance and help.
The admit cards of the candidates were checked by teams of senior faculty members at the main entrance and 800 teachers and staff members performed examination duties.
Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui addressed the candidates and visited the examination blocks.
About 31 committees were appointed to make arrangements for the entry test under the supervision of senior professors.
They included Dr Mohammad Yar Khuhawar, Dr Anwar Ali Shah, Mohammad Saleh Rajar, Dr Kazi Khadim Hussain, Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh, Dr Lutfullah Mangi, Dr Saeed Ahmed Soomro, Dr Iqbal Ahmed Panhwar and Dr Saleem Chandio.
The university had also set up waiting rooms for parents of the candidates at the Institute of Commerce and at the main lawn.
Two doctors, one of them a lady doctor, along with first-aid kits were available at the Faculty of Arts Building.
The university authorities announced that the result of the test would be declared within 24 hours and would be available online at www.usindh.edu.pk.
