Straggling Through Fire: An Anthology of Proemistry Ghulam Murtaza Aatir

As the author explains, this is not poetry, but “proemistry” — a blend of poetry and prose, media and history, and whatever else one might want or need to add. The “proems” are an expression of the agonies of the weak, of the elitism rampant in the public, literary and social spheres of Pakistan, of hopes dissolving as idols fall from their pedestals. Satirical multiple-choice questions, animals in conversation, one proem just a list of dates — in sum, a startling collection.

Nasreen Aslam Shah

In what will surely be a useful text for students in particular, the author breaks down the process of, and delineates the rules for, gathering, analysing and presenting information. Beginning with the history and concepts of research, she explains sources and types of knowledge, and the objectives and importance of research. Following this is a detailed discussion of theories, observation, fieldwork, primary and secondary tools of data collection and guidelines on presentation, including how to reference, summarise and conclude.
