TAXILA: Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Baitul Maal Syed Yawar Abbas Bokhari on Saturday said an educational directorate complex would be established in Attock soon in which all the officials of the educational department would be accommodated in a single complex. He expressed these views on the occasion of inauguration of newly established administration block in the office of district officer elementary education in Attock.
He said the PTI government had brought revolution in the education sector in the Attock district.
He said three new universities and one mother and child hospital would be built in Attock for which funds have been allocated.
The minister said an agriculture university was near completion and soon classes would be started for which Rs400 million have been sanctioned.
He said a new building of the regional campus of Allama Iqbal University would be built in Attock which would provide better education facilities to more than 14,000 students.
He said during the current fiscal year,a sum of Rs1.5 billion will be spent on reconstruction of dangerous school buildings, Rs500 million on construction of additional classrooms while Rs6.5 billion had been allocated for Insaf Afternoon Schools.
He said across Attock, 141 schools would be upgraded to Insaf Elementary Schools which was a revolutionary step of the Punjab government.
Swimming in rivers, water channels banned
Deputy Commissioner Attock Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh on Saturday promulgated Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code banning swimming, bathing in rivers and water channel.
During the last two weeks dozens of people, especially youth lost their lives while swimming or bathing in rivers, water channels in Attock district especially in river Indus and Ghazi Barotha water channel.
In order to save precious human lives, the district administration has imposed a ban under section 188 of PPC and also directed police to implement the order in letter and spirit.
According to the notification any person violating this order shall render himself liable to punishment.
Talking to newsmen, Imran Hamid Sheikh has expressed the apprehension over loss of lives due to bathing and swimming in rivers and water channels.
“The ban is imposed to safeguard the precious lives of the citizens,” he added.
He added that in order to avoid any untoward incident of drowning, it is necessary to take such immediate measures.
He said that the SHOs of police stations concerned had been directed to book the violators of the order under Section 188 of PPC.
