KARACHI: Contrary to the Sindh government announcement of lockdown, the Karachi Race Club (KRC) has decided to go ahead with the weekly Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

“The races will be held according to schedule with extra precautions regarding SOPs”, an official of the KRC told Dawn on Saturday.

It is pertinent to mention that the Sindh government had announced a nine-day lockdown in view of spike in the coronavirus (Covid-19) cases.

The KRC has issued a four-race card for the meeting, including August Cup that tops the action.

Horses in double figures (10) have entered the fray in the August Cup under scale order V that will go over four furlongs. It is the third race of the program.

Seven horses will battle it out for honours in the fourth and the last race classified under scale order I, III and IV. The race which is the feature event will also be contested over four furlongs.

A field of seven horses will face the starter in the opening race while nine horses will make their appearance in the second.

The first race starts at 2.30pm.

Place: Awaz-e-Sehar.

THE AUGUST PLATE SCALE ORDER VI & VII — 4 F:

The Finisher 9-0, Sehar Princess 8-7, Victor 8-4, Epsom 8-2, Airborne 8-2, Little Darling 7-12, Punjabi Munda 7-12, Stifee 7-12, Meri Chahat 7-10.

Win: The Finisher.

Place: Epsom and Little Darling.

THE AUGUST CUP SCALE ORDER V — 4 F:

Starka 9-0, Recovery 8-13, Chile 8-11, Galileo Lady 8-11, Soldier Girl 8-9, Twenty Twenty 8-8, Faster 8-8, Soldier Star 8-5, Geo Ahsan 8-3, Cracks Man 8-2.
