HYDERABAD, Oct 31: Fishermen of Khanote and other adjoining areas of the Manjhand taluka, Jamshoro district, including women and children, held a protest demonstration outside the press club here against fisheries and forest departments.

Ms Shamim Mallah, Mir Mohammad Mallah and others said that about one month back, they had taken the contract of water ponds in the Rajri forest for Rs123,000 for catching fish.

They said officials of the fisheries department cancelled their contract and gave the same to what they called criminals.

They claimed that they had been receiving the contract for catching fish for the last 70 years but now the fisheries department had held the auction of the fishing ponds secretly.

They said the livelihood of more than 50 fishermen’s families depended on these fishing ponds.

M.Ed RESULT: The controller of examinations of the University of Sindh has announced the result of annual examinations of 2004 of the off campus M.Ed programme.

One candidate secured the first class, 14 candidates were passed in the second class and four candidates passed in the third class.
