LAHORE: The Hanjarwal police took into custody two suspects, including a rickshaw driver, in the kidnap case of four girls.

The case was registered on the complaint of Irfan Ali, of Mohalla Nambardaran, who said his daughters Anam, 10, and Kinza, 11, along with neighbour Akram’s daughters Pinki, 14, and Aysha, 8, had gone missing some four days back.

A police official said a team of the investigation police questioned several people.

They took into custody a young man of the same area following his mobile phone record and a rickshaw driver who had picked up the girls on the day.

He said according to the rickshaw driver, he had dropped them outside the EME Housing Society, Lahore, at 11:55pm on July 31.

The police official said the investigation team was questioning the two suspects in custody besides exploring all other options to trace the missing girls.

ROBBERIES: Gunmen shot at and injured the salesman of a private company in South Cantt area here on Tuesday.

Identified as Tauqir Ahmad, the man was rushed to a local hospital where he was struggling for life, a police official said.

He said two gunmen intercepted Tauqir at Nishat Colony when he was going to deliver money on his company’s van.

They held up him at gunpoint, snatched Rs300,000 in cash from him and shot at him when he offered resistance. The robbers later fled the scene with the looted amount.

In another street crime incident that took place in the Raiwind area, two robbers snatched Rs400,00 from Yunas and his family and fled.

Three armed men barged into the residence of Afzal in Hadyara, held up his family at gunpoint and fled after looting gold ornaments, mobile phones and cash worth Rs300,000.
