RAWALPINDI: The fire which broke out in the basement of a diaper manufacturing factory in Rawat was eventually put out after 20 hours of hectic effort, but only after the structure was reduced to ashes.

The people injured in the fire were identified as Mohammad Azhar Uddin, 19, Azam Ali, 32 and Sajid Hussain 23. All three were provided first aid on the spot by Rescue 1122 staff.

As many as 30 vehicles and two mobile ambulances from Rawalpindi, three fire engines from Jhelum and Murree participated in the fire fighting operation. In addition, the two fire tenders and one rescue vehicle from Islamabad fire brigade, one fire tender from Bahria Town and two water tankers of Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) took part in the firefighting operation.
