TAXILA: Canadian High Commissioner Wendy Gilmour on Monday said that Canada enjoys a mature, ongoing and satisfactory relationship with Pakistan.
She expressed these views at the groundbreaking ceremony of an eye care hospital which is being constructed by two Pakistani brothers of Canadian origin Aqeel Khan and Pervaiz Khan at Khawza Khail village near Hazro town of district Attock.
Punjab Minister for Social Welfare and Baitul Mal (SW&BM) Syed Yawar Abbas Bukhari and other notables were also present on this occasion.
“Both countries’ relationship has much substance in it and it is free of any irritants which give us room and opportunities to further develop this relationship, particularly in the field of health, education and social development,” she added.
She was of the view that Canada valued its partnership with Pakistan to strengthen health and education systems.
“We need to work together for the development and confidence building of the women community in the region,” she added.
Ms Gilmour said the Pakistani-Canadian community was playing a key role in strengthening bilateral ties between Pakistan and Canada.
She said Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had good wishes for Pakistan. She said she was happy to visit the village of Khawza Khail and was impressed by the cleanliness of the area.
She also stopped the bus carrying special children and had chit chat with them. She also had the traditional feast ‘Katwa’ and lauded its taste.
