Chinese envoy calls on COAS

RAWALPINDI: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong called on Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa at the GHQ on Tuesday.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, defence collaboration, progress on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and regional security were discussed in detail.

The ambassador appreciated Pakistan’s sincere efforts for peace and stability in the region.

He reiterated that China would continue to support Pakis­tan as a strategic partner.

Also on Tuesday, retired General Hulusi Akar, Min­ister of National Defence of the Republic of Turkey, called on Gen Bajwa.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, including defence and security cooperation between both the countries and overall regional security situation, especially the Afghan peace process, were discussed.
