ISLAMABAD: Two persons were killed and three injured in a road accident on Srinagar Highway near G-9 traffic Signal on Tuesday, police said.

Five persons were travelling in a car, coming from Karachi Company side to Srinagar Highway, the police said, adding that when the vehicle entered the highway a dumper hit the car in such a way that it was stuck under the dumper and caught fire.

Police and rescue workers put out the fire, besides retrieving the injured from the wreckage of the car.

Later, the injured were shifted to a hospital where two of them -- Fakhar Shah, 52 and Sajid Mehmood, residents of Bhara Kahu --were pronounced dead, the police said.

The injured were identified as Kamran, Aurangzaib and Shah Zaib, they added.
