Siraj welcomes arbitration tribunal

PESHAWAR, Nov 1: Prov-incial Senior Minister Sirajul Haq has welcomed the formation of arbitration Tribunal to resolve the row between the NWFP and Wapda over net hydel profits.

Talking to reporters after assembly session, the senior minister, who also holds the portfolio of finance, said that the federal government had paved the way for resolving the thorny issue by giving a timeframe of six months.

He expressed the hope that the matter of net hydel profit and NFC Award would be resolved in accordance with the principles of justice and fairness. The settlement of the net profit issue, he maintained, would help improve socio-economic condition of the poor masses of the province, besides relieving NWFP of the loans. He said: “We are determined to get rid of the menace of loans for our future generations.”

TOY BOMBS SEIZED: The Peshawar city capital police seized 200,000 toy-bombs and 5 million Chinese crackers after a raid at the Karkhano Bazaar near Hayatabad here on Tuesday, police sources said.

After a tip-off that a huge quantity of toy-bombs and crackers had been kept at a shop in Karkhano Bazaar, SSP Operation Saeed Khan Wazir constituted a team, led by ASP Hayatabad Waqas Nazir, and raided the site and recovered the toy-bomb and the crackers worth millions of rupees. These were intended to be used on the occasion of Eid.

The police have registered a case and started investigation.
