INTERNET SERVICE

INTERNET SERVICE: To meet the growing use of the internet, various service providers have introduced packages and devices. The unfortunate part is that these companies fleece their customers mercilessly without providing reliable service. The worst part is that the complaints are not addressed. Pakistan Telecommunication Authority should look into the matter and sort things out.

COVID MANAGEMENT: Recently, I tested Covid-positive. On the third day, I received a call from DHQ Islamabad for contact testing of the family. After repeated calls and reminders, the team finally arrived two days later to test the three family members. Another two days later, we got one report, but there is nobody to tell us when we would get the other two reports. If this is the situation in the capital, one can imagine the plight of the people in other parts of the country.

GUTKA MENACE: The consumption of ‘paan’ and ‘gutka’ is still quite prevalent in Karachi. Besides being a health hazard, it is a major cause of unhygienic conditions, with the consumers conveniently spitting around. ‘Gutka’ stains have now become a characteristic feature of the city. There is a need to further tighten the restrictions against the sale and consumption of such health hazards.

WRONG APPROACH: The Sindh government has issued a circular regarding shortage of staff in the Health Department and intends to deploy the staff of the Education Department on vaccine administration duty. It seems like the government has no concern for the state of education or for the students who are unable to attend physical classes for over a year. The government should open the schools on a priority basis, and volunteers should be appointed for the purpose of vaccine administration rather than involving the teaching staff.
