SWABI: Police arrested here on Thursday three people for snatching cash and mobile phone sets from a person in broad daylight.
DPO Mohammad Shoaib Khan said that Ateequr Rehman lodged an FIR in Swabi city police station that more than Rs100,000 and mobile phone sets were snatched from him by the three persons, who also threatened to kill him if he registered a case against them.
Swabi city police station SHO Ajab Durrani, when contacted, said that the case was registered against Yasir Khan, Akhtar Khan and Mir Nabi alias Meeno. He said that police raided their residents and arrested them along with three Kalashnikovs, two pistols and magazines.
Meanwhile, police seized five kilograms of hashish, 676 grams of ice drug and arrested five people in a crackdown on the drug sellers in the limits of Zaida police station on Thursday.
SHO Shafiur Rehman Zaida said that Aamir Khan of Maneri Bala and Ibrahim Khan of Swabi city were arrested and four kilograms of hashish were recovered from them during checking of an auto rickshaw.
He said that ice was recovered from Ayaz Khan, Manzoor Khan and Waheed Khan. “Police are working on a plan to eradicate the menace of drugs from the district,” he added. Police also seized two pistols from drug pushers and registered FIRs against them.
