ISLAMABAD: Three more patients succumbed to Covid-19 and 571 people were found infected with the virus in the capital on Saturday. This was the highest number of cases on a single day since April 23.
Moreover, two persons died of the virus and 156 people tested positive in the district of Rawalpindi.
Officials of the capital administration said two women in the age group of 50-59 and 60-69 and a man aged between 70 and 79 years passed away in hospitals. They were residents of G-9, G-10 and G-15.
The officials said 617 positive cases had been reported on April 23.
During the last 24 hours, 5,121 tests were conducted and the positivity rate remained 11.15 per cent.
As many as 126 cases were reported in the age group of 30-39 followed by 97 in 20-29, 93 in 40-49, 79 in 10-19, 77 in 0-9, 48 in 50-59, 29 in 60-69, 15 in 70-79, six in 80 and above.

Likewise, 46 cases were reported from Khanna, 34 from G-9, 33 from Bhara Kahu, 30 from G-7, 29 from Loi Bher, 28 from Tarlai, 22 from E-11, 17 from G-11, 16 from Alipur, 15 each from G-10 and F-11, 13 each from I-8 and F-10, 11 from I-9, 10 each from G-6, Rawat, F-8 and G-15, nine each from F-6 and G-8, eight from I-10, five each from Chak Shahzad, Sohan, G-5, Koral, Sihala and Bari Imam, four each from F-7, G-13 and H-13, three each from Kirpa, I-12 and I-11, two each from Rawal Town, Kurri, Model Town, I-14, F-5, and E-7, and one each from Chirrah, D-12, Jhangi Syedan, G-12, Tarnol, B-17, F-15, Pind Begwal and F-14.
There were 5469 active cases in the capital.
The occupancy rate of beds and ventilators allocated for the Covid-19 patients also increased to 48.17pc and 47.27pc, respectively from 46.68pc and 44.54pc.
Rawalpindi
Two patients died and 156 people contracted the virus in the district while 92 patients were discharged from hospitals.
Bilqees Begum, 78, a resident of Gujar Khan, was brought to Rawalpindi Institute of Urology on August 13 where she died.
Tahzeem Akhter, 65, a resident of Tench Bhatta Jan Colony, passed away at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) where he was admitted on August 13.
There are 2,327 active patients in the district - 230 in hospitals and 2,097 home isolated.
Officials said 33 patients arrived from cantonment areas, 21 from city areas and 24 patients from Potohar Town. As many as 47 patients also reported from Murree, 10 from Taxila, four each from Gujar Khan and Kallar Syedan, six patients from Islamabad, three from Azad Jammu and Kashmir and one patient each from Attock, Chakwal, Kahuta and Khushab.
As many as 230 patients were admitted in the city hospitals - 51 in Holy Family Hospital, 35 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), 84 in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU), five in District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, 44 in Fauji Foundation Hospital (FFH), four in Hearts International Hospital and Bilal Hospital, two in Begum Akhter Sultana Trust Hospital and one patient in Attock Hospital.
There are six patients on ventilators, 127 on oxygen and 97 are stable.
