KOHAT: Seven members of a family, including children, received severe burns in a blast caused by gas leak in Togh Bala area of Kohat on Saturday.

The injured were taken to the KDA Teaching Hospital, wherefrom they were referred to a Peshawar hospital due to their precarious condition.

The blast took place after a woman left the burner in the kitchen open when the gas outage occurred. And when she lit a match after some time a huge explosion took place, engulfing the house in flames.

Jehanzeb, the family head, said the blast occurred due to the unannounced outage by the SNGPL. He said he would sue the gas company.

The hospital and Rescue 1122 officials identified the injured as Jehanzeb , 48, his wife Rabia, 35, Laiba, 11, Sadia, 20, Hadia, 15, Marina Bibi, 6, Khamsa Bibi, 5.

The house was destroyed in the huge blast. The rescuers extinguished the fire after several hours.

It may be recalled that last year a similar incident had taken place in the house of a brother of the victim, Dilbar Khan, in which a woman was killed.
