SWABI: A clash between two families left five people dead and three injured in Chota Lahor tehsil here on Friday.

SHO Tordher police station Altaf Khan told Dawn that the incident occurred in Sahara Lara area when neighbours brawled over a petty issue, which later turned into a gunfight. He said that four persons from one family and one from the other died on the spot. He said that the two families were blood relatives.

The police officer said that the victims included two brothers, Munsif Khan and Atif Khan, Umair Khan, son of Munsif, and their nephew Abdul Hafeez. He added that Basit Khan and Inamullah Khan from the same family were injured.

SHO Altaf Khan said that Fawad Khan of the rival family was also killed, and his brother, Awwal Sher, was seriously injured.

The injured were taken to the Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmasoor, and Qazi Hussain Ahmad Hospital, Nowshera.

SHO Altaf said the five bodies were sent to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Chota Lahor, for autopsy.

Injured Inamullah and Awwal Sher got registered cross FIRs with the Tordher police station.

Meanwhile, unidentified assailants shot dead a man identified as Zakir Khan near his house in Bando Oboo village.

SHO Kalu Khan police station Fayyaz Khan said that the cause of the incident was not known. He, however, said the police had registered an FIR against unknown persons.
