Twenty-six cricketers to participate in white-ball camp starting today

LAHORE: A pre-season training camp for men’s white-ball players commences on Sunday here at the National High Performance Centre with practice matches to be played at the Gaddafi Stadium.

The camp will be supervised by the National High Performance Centre coaching and support staff, led by Head of International Player Development Saqlain Mushtaq.

Twenty-six players will take part in the camp for which they were start assembling later on Saturday. Throughout the camp, the prevalent Covid-19 SOPs will be observed.

White-ball players returning from the West Indies where Pakistan team is currently playing a two-Test series, will be asked to join the camp after a few days rest.

It may be mentioned here that earlier the PCB had planned to organise a training camp for the ODI series against Afghanistan at the same venue from Saturday but later it deferred the programme, considering the camp will only be held if the Afghanistan

Cricket Board confirmed the tour and travelling plan, which is presently in doldrums due to the rapidly changing political situation in Afghanistan.

The three-match ODI rubber is to be held in Hambantota, Sri Lanka during the first week of September.

Arshad Iqbal, Danish Aziz, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hussain Talat, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Imam-ul-Haq, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim, Salman Ali Agha, Shadab Khan, Sharjeel Khan, Sohaib Maqsood.

Additional players to help during net sessions and practice matches:

Abrar Ahmed, Ahmed Bashir, Mohammad Imran Randhawa, Mohammad Ilyas, Mohammad Imran, Mohammad Akhlaq, Raza Ali Dar, Rohail Nazir, Zeeshan Ashraf.

Camp schedule (first week):

Aug 22: Scenario-based 50-over practice match.

Aug 23: Fitness, strength and conditioning session.

Aug 24: Scenario-based 50-over practice match.

Aug 25: Skill practice session.

Aug 26: Fitness, strength and conditioning session.

Aug 27: Scenario-based 50-over practice match.
