LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi says Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa is fully aware of the emerging situation and security institutions are playing their due role regarding Afghanistan’s affairs aimed at averting its fallout for the country.

“There is no danger to the security of Pakistan in the presence of the armed forces,” said Mr Elahi while speaking to federal Planning Minister and National Command and Operation (NCOC) chairman Asad Umar, who called on him at his residence here on Saturday.

They discussed the prevailing national political situation and matters of mutual interest, including the coronavirus pandemic.

Mr Elahi also stated that the local government system should be evolved to benefit the common man and stressed this should be done in consultation with the allied parties.

Mr Elahi lauded Mr Umar for his efforts for ensuring regular supply of the anti-Covid vaccine and for controlling the coronavirus. He said the number of Covid patients was increasing in the country due to non-observance of the standard operating procedures (SOPs). He stressed the need for the people to strictly follow SOPs and get vaccinated to counter the pandemic.

Federal minister for water resources Moonis Elahi, MNA Salik Hussain and Shafay Hussain were also present.
