GUJRAT: Two persons were killed by unidentified people here on Wednesday.

A laundry shop owner was shot dead by armed men at his shop at Model Town.

Reports said Ishfaq Ahmed, 37, of Shadman Colony, was at his shop early in the morning when two men riding a motorcycle came there and one of them shot him dead. The assailants fled.

The body was shifted to the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital.

Police have registered a case against unidentified suspects.

An old man was asphyxiated to death at his house at Kakrali village.

Hamid Mukhtar who is settled in the UK told the Kakrali police his father, Mukhtar Rana, had been residing with his second wife at family house. His stepmother told him, he said, that she went to toilet when unidentified men jumped into the house and locked the washroom door from outside and killed her husband.

Police shifted the body to the Kharian THQ Hospital for autopsy.

ARRESTED: Police claim to have arrested the suspects involved in a house robbery of Rs5.5m at Bhaggipura area of Dinga.

A woman of the house staged the drama of robbery with the help of her alleged lover a month ago.

A team led by the Kharian circle DSP and Dinga SHO arrested the suspects after they found that Munazza Bibi, the wife of complainant’s son, had staged the robbery drama. Police arrested both the suspects and recovered Rs1m, 28,00 Euros and 40-tola gold ornaments from them.
