Hiroshima’s daughter

This is regarding the cover article, “Hiroshima’s daughter: Sadako Sasaki” by Sakina Raza (YW, August 7). The article left me numb after finding out the estimated death statistics mentioned in the piece, and how the people faced those terrible times. It breaks my heart even to think of it.

The article had an important message too, that encouraged me and gave me strength as I read the bravery of an iron girl, Sadako Sasaki, who didn’t lose her will to live and fought till her last breath. We can’t imagine the terrifying moments, how then the Japanese people and innocent kids had suffered.

No doubt, still today, many children are affected by war and are having health issues due to the after-effects of bombing.

Sadako will remain an example for kids as well as adults who suffer from acute or chronic diseases and are disappointed and hopeless.

Cook-it-yourself

This is with reference to the section Cook-it-yourself by Aamnah Arshad. I love reading the recipes that come in this section and I often, try them out. The Nutella-iced latte (YW, August 14), was worth trying. I tried the cold coffee and it turned out to be very tasty.

However, I would like to request the contributor for coming up with teatime snacks not just sweet treats but something cheesy and spicy.

Good deed

This is with reference to the story time “Good deeds” by Aaminah Alavi (YW, August 7). The story was worth reading for it had various lessons in it. We should realise that humans can help fellow humans at the time of difficulty because nothing is greater than that.

We can save money and give a good life to the poor and needy by providing food, clothes and money to them.

Family is everything

This is with reference to the story “Family is everything” by Bashara Tariq (YW, July 24). I appreciate the writer for writing such a wonderful story on the importance of a family in one’s life.

We should understand that before friends and other relationships, one’s family is the most important thing in life. No matter what we do or how wrong we are, our family still stand by us. The story also tells us that we should never give up on anything. If someone is bullying us or making fun of us, we should not care and keep working hard and make ourself and our family proud. We are nothing without our family.
