KP govt to launch two new housing schemes in Peshawar, Mardan

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to launch two new housing schemes in Peshawar and Mardan districts in next two months. The planned schemes include Tokra-III Housing Project on the Ring Road, Peshawar, and High-rise Flats Project in Mardan.

Chairing a meeting of the housing department at the CM House here, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan directed the relevant authorities to complete all the pre-requisites for launching the said housing schemes according to the stipulated timelines.

The provincial government, he said, was taking concrete measures to provide low-cost housing facilities to people with low income as per the PM’s vision.

According to a statement, the meeting was also attended by provincial ministers Dr Amjad Ali and Mohibullah, secretary housing and director general Provincial Housing Authority and other senior officials.

CM says providing low-cost housing to people priority

The participants were briefed about the progress so far made on the development projects of the department.

It was stated that the planning and designing of the Tokra-III Housing Project was in progress, which consisted of 1,080 flats over 79 kanals.

It was stated that the said project would be launched next month.

The meeting was informed that the High-Rise Flats Project in Mardan would also be launched in October this year.

The meeting was told that development work on Hangu Housing Society would also be initiated soon.

Briefing the meeting about other projects of the department, it was stated that balloting for 2,510 plots had been completed under the Jalozai Housing Scheme Phase-III.

Similarly, progress is also being made on Jalozai flats. Thisscheme consists of 1,320 flats for which about 750 applications have been received so far, but the last date for applications has been extended till August 31.

The Warsak, Peshawar, project comprising 144 flatsand Warsak-II project having 112 flatsare alsoready for launch. There are minor issues at project sites which would be addressed on priority basis.

A consultant has been hired for designing and planning of a high-rise building spread over 35.8 kanals at Nishtarabad, Peshawar, the statement said. The project will consist of about 650 units.

Similarly, progress is underway on Dheri Zardad Project in Charsadda, which consists of 458 plots of different sizes. Under the project, 53 plots of 3.5 marlas are ready for allotment.

The master plan of Dangram Housing Scheme, Swat, has been prepared while work on its detailed designing is in progress. Under the project, 836 flats of different sizes will be constructed.

It was stated that work had started on site survey of Surizai Housing Scheme, Peshawar, covering an area of 8,500 kanals. The project will consist of about16,000 gray structure houses and flats.

Work on Jarma Housing Scheme in Kohat is also underway. Under the scheme, 463 plots of different sizes will be allotted, the statement said.

The meeting was further informed that progress was being made on setting up of low-cost housing schemes in the peri-urban areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Land has also been identified in some districts for the project.
