PESHAWAR: The Khazana police on Sunday arrested three brothers for torturing people on suspicion of theft.

A police official told Dawn that the arrests were made following a video of the torture went viral on social media.

The video showed the accused hanging three people upside down and torturing them.

The official identified the suspects as Ikramullah, Shakirullah and Ghufran, saying that about 20 other people involved in the offence would be arrested soon.

The official said the accused told the police that they caught the persons while stealing their buffalo, and started torturing them.

He said that the police booked the accused under sections 355, 342 and 337 of Pakistan Penal Code.
