KOHAT: Highwaymen killed a young car dealer on the Rawalpindi Road after looting cash from him here on Tuesday.
The car the victim was driving was found abandoned at the Togh Bala Bridge, family sources said.
In-laws of the victim, Asim Paracha, said he had left Rawalpindi for Kohat at 1.30am after dropping his wife at her parents’ house. They said the victim had also sold a car in Rawalpindi and was carrying huge cash with him.
They said he was murdered far away from Kohat city somewhere on the outskirts of Gumbat and Togh Bala.
The Bilitang police have lodged a report against unidentified robbers and started further investigations.
Separately, passing out parade of 246 police personnel was held at the Eagle Fort Camp on Tuesday.
They would perform duty in the Darra Adamkhel tribal subdivision of Kohat.
The newly-trained policemen are the former Khasadars from the erstwhile tribal regions of Kohat, Peshawar and Mohmand districts.
Army officers and police instructors imparted training to them.
Kohat district police officer Sohail Khalid, who was the chief guest on the occasion, inspected the march past.
The policemen displayed skills of firing, room and close quarter combat, PT, raids, secure fight with terrorists and drill.
Speaking on the occasion, DPO Sohail Khalid called on the policemen to use their energies for bringing peace in the region.
He praised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police for rendering numerous sacrifices during the long war against terrorism. He said the province’s police had been recognised the world over for their bravery.
