KARACHI: Funeral prayers of veteran Kashmiri liberation leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani were offered in absentia here at Karachi on Thursday by members of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and Jamaat-i-Islami.

PTI central vice president and Leader of Opposition in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh and local party leaders and workers in a large number attended the funeral at Muhammadi Masjid, PS-99 area of Karachi East.

They expressed heartfelt sorrow and profound grief over demise of the veteran leader of Kashmiri liberation movement and also offered Fateha and prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace.

Later, they also staged a protest demonstration against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the oppressive Indian regime that not only kept Syed Ali Geelani under house arrest for past many years but also obstructed his funeral rituals.
